Famous blogger and president Bloggers Association Uganda, Isma Olaxess also known as Jajja Iculi has been arrested and charged to court on Monday morning for offensive communication and libel. This has been confirmed by the CID spokesperson in a statement.
The bloggers arrest was confirmed by CID spokesperson Charles Twiine who revealed that he was charged to court for offensive communication and criminal libel. Isma Olaxess committed these crimes with three Next Media journalists on Sanyuka TV in September while talking about faded singer OS Suuna on their morning TV show called Xpress.
The three other journalists he is being charged with are Kayz Kawalya, Brian Wakko, and Williams Makko who are currently on remand at Kitalya prison till 15th October. On the same note, Isma Olaxess fellow NRM blogger Ashburg Kato was also arrested on relatively similar charges but his were hacking into people’s social media accounts which left very many affected since this year began.
However, Ashburg has been released from police custody on bond and is expected to appear at police again. More so, cyber bullying, offensive communication remain the order of the day in Uganda on social media, print media and electronic media.
