Edwin Katamba professionally known by his stage name Mc Kats reveals how he was so much stigmatized for being positive.

About two years ago, the king of the Mic came out to the public and revealed that he was HIV positive. On knowing his status many people condemned him as they started looking at him as a nonsense which somehow lowered his esteem.

However, time came and people accepted him as his friends encouraged and supported him. Since then, he has never looked back. Mc Kats decided to use his publicity and became a voice for the voiceless as he stated creating HIV awareness and also encouraging all those in the same situation as his not to give up but instead fight.

Over the weekend, while appearing on NBSTV, kats managed to share with people about his feelings on opening up about his status. He says this gave him enough courage to fight for his life.

“As someone who had gone through enough stigma and discrimination. When I revealed my HIV status, it opened up my heart. I felt happier. I was stigmatized for so long in silence. The worst bit of it is that even those I called my close friends were in among the crowd that pushed hard to hate my self,” Mc Kats revealed.
