KAMPALA – Ugandan singer Joseph Mayanja popularly known as Jose Chameleone has fired back at NUP principle Robert Sentamu Kyagulanyi after he criticized their decision to flock Gulu to meet General Salim Saleh, a brother to president Museveni.
Three weeks ago Bobi Wine referred to local musicians as celebrated beggars for lacking the knowledge of survival amidst the ongoing pandemic lockdown and instead always pool at President Museveni brother, Gen Salim Saleh’s residence in Gulu to beg for handouts.
The post totally offended many artists who claimed that the singer turned politician isn’t the right person to label them as beggars because he is a beggar too.
Among them is Chameleon who was among the artist in Gulu. During an interview with a local Tv
station, the ‘Baliwa’ hit maker responded to Bobi Wine’s remarks calling him a beggar saying that they
both beg from the same man.
“The pictures I saw Bobi Wine with Salim Saleh, what had he gone to do? Calling us beggars yet he also begged us for votes, he also should have stayed in his house and not begged for votes” Chameleone said.
He also clarified that they didn’t go to Gulu to beg for money but rather come together as stakeholders in the industry and find ways of growing the music industry. However, it should be noted that, a list begging for money was leaked where Chameleone was asking for a money, a sign that the motive for going to Gulu was to beg.
